Physics World July 2024
Ukraine uncovered: photographs of scientific life in the invaded nation
This month's cover feature is by Eric Lusito, a photographer who's travelled to the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, devastated during the Russian invasion. His photos depict how the conflict has hit researchers, who are trying to continue working in the most challenging of circumstances. Also in the issue, physicist Holly Tann explains how she helped set up a non-profit foundation to support people in Ukraine. Meanwhile, Giulia Pancheri tells the story of Bruno Touschek, the Austrian-born Jewish physicist who ended up working for the Nazi military during the Second World War.
